VISION

LiDAR is a rapid and cost-effective source of high-accuracy, high-density elevation data for many traditional topographic mapping applications. The technology allows topographic surveys to be completed significantly faster and at a reduced cost compared to traditional survey methods such as land survey techniques, and stereo imagery.

Ground and aerial surveys have been the primary source of original elevation measurements for most digital terrain models. Traditional distance and angle measurements with surveying equipments may provide precise elevations at specified locations but these methods are slow and cover only small areas.

Vision is the first company to have introduced two state of the art LiDAR sensors to the Middle East. One system the Leica ALS 50 is flown using a fixed wing aircraft and is used to survey large areas. The second system is the Topeye engineering grade, helicopter-borne LiDAR system. This system is designed especially to survey utility and infrastructure corridors at rates of up to 100 km per day.

Both systems provide 3D data for design, maintenance and asset management activities rapidly. The digital terrain models can be exported to any of the mainstream CAD and GIS packages available on the market. For the transmission line operators Vision can produce end products in specialist engineering type packages such as PLS-CADD and and Tower/Pole CAD.
